Membrane Absorbers
A membrane absorber consists of a front panel, such as the unperforated area in a perforated metal plate, mounted
on walls or ceilings with an air cavity behind it.
The air in this cavity acts like a spring, creating a vibrating system together with the metal plate. This system works to
counteract and dampen sound waves, reducing reverberation.
As illustrated below, membrane absorbers are particularly effective at absorbing low-frequency sounds.
