Back in Denmark, meanwhile, Dæmpa panels were being
installed in some of the spaces within the very large new
Copenhagen Airport main terminal (today Terminal 2) at
Kastrup, designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen, Mogens Boertmann, Jørgen Anker Heegaard and Helge H. Hoppe. Its
design and construction represented one of the biggest
architectural and engineering projects to date in post-war
Denmark and required a ‘national effort’, involving a great
many diverse suppliers of materials and equipment to
achieve.
Meanwhile, in central Copenhagen, the SAS Royal Hotel
and airline terminal, designed by Arne Jacobsen and nowadays considered as among his masterworks, was also
under construction. In Denmark, both the airport and the
hotel were potent symbols of jet age modernity and notable
for their highly refined modernist designs, to which Dæmpa’s ceilings significantly contributed.
