The growth and
development
accelerates
During 1957, Jean Fischer worked to develop an initial version of a novel complete ceiling system, using profiled aluminium tiles or panels with Rockwool backing. For ease of
installation, these would attach to carrying rails formed of
black iron U-section, mounted beneath or suspended from
a building’s beams or soffit. Owing to the limitations of the
initial perforating machine, the first examples had large perforations but they could also be supplied in unperforated
form.
Meanwhile, Det Fyenske Trælastkompagni strengthened
Dæmpa’s managerial capacity, forming a dedicated executive board led by Børge Davidsen. It also sought to acquire a
second factory and in 1958 purchased a former linen works
in the village of Tommerup to the south-west of Odense for
this purpose. It would be re-equipped for the production of
aluminium ceilings, while hardboard and asbestos panels
would continue to be made in Sankt Klemens.
