Foreword
Since 1951, DAMPA has worked closely with architects and
consultants to develop solutions that profoundly influence how
rooms are experienced. The ceiling is rarely the first element
one notices. Nevertheless, it significantly shapes a room’s
character: how sound behaves, how light is reflected, and how
we physically and mentally feel over time.
For 75 years, this quiet yet essential role has been at the heart
of DAMPA’s work. Our approach has always been rooted in
collaboration – in respect for architectural intention, in deep
material understanding, and in strong technical expertise. This
has carried us from the early acoustic fibreboards to today’s
advanced integrated ceiling and climate solutions, where
acoustics, indoor climate, comfort and resource awareness
are naturally interconnected.
This book is not about the products themselves, but about
how they are used. Through selected buildings, it shows how
ceiling solutions have supported some of the most significant
spaces in Danish and international architecture. From schools
and hospitals to cultural buildings, offices, and passenger
ships.
At the same time, the book tells the story of a company that,
over three quarters of a century, has evolved in step with the
architecture and the built environment. It is a story of continuous innovation, long-lasting partnerships, and an unwavering
ambition to create spaces where people want to be.
DAMPA celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2026. We look back
with pride – and forward with curiosity.
