Another architecturally significant early project involving
Dæmpa was a new Sports High School (Idrætshøjskole) in
Sønderborg, which the Copenhagen architects Tyge Hvass
and Ib Kofod designed as a series of interlinked blocks of
one, two and three storeys, set amid landscaped surroundings. These were faced in yellow brick and with matching
tiled pitched roofing in the ‘functional tradition’ manner of
Kay Fisker and C.F. Møller’s Aarhus University. Also completed in 1952, the school remains much as built today.
