A recently added new product range capable of being retrofitted is DAMPA® Space, an ingenious system of flexible
learning furniture. Designed by Liv Bach of the architects
Kjær & Richter, its elements create a room-within-a-room
when there is a need for a calm, enclosed area – whether in
an educational settings or workplace. The units easily unfold
into a workstation, a creative hub, or a display surface, and
can be closed up again when the space is needed for another purpose.
DAMPA® Space was first installed in the Børnekulturhus
(Children’s Culture House) at Høje Taastrup near Copenhagen, completed in 2022 and to a Kjær & Richter design,
developed in collaboration with the firms of Christensen &
Co (CCO) and Møller & Grønborg. A community facility for
children and young people, it comprises four ’cultural clusters’, focusing respectively on music, technology, creativity
and movement, all united beneath a single roof.

Kjær & Richter subsequently used DAMPA® Space in their
design for Stigsborg skole in Nørresundby, another innovative project for childrens’ learning with an integrative theme.
Inaugurated in 2025, it contains a primary school and daycare center with a kindergarten and nursery and is organised around themes of ’motor skills and movement’, ’nature
and science’, ’construction’ and ’creation’, all combining
practical learning and teaching.
Other educational projects using only DAMPA ceilings
include Valhøj School, renovated in collaboration with MATTERS and an extension of Ørestad Gymnasium by Sweco
Architects.
