recent years
In recent years, there have also been numerous projects for
office buildings and corporate headquarters. The KB32
building is an ingenious conversion by Vilhelm Lauritzen
Architects of former railway freight offices and a depot in
central Copenhagen, originally completed in 1967 to a
design by Ole Hagen, into a modern office complex, which
opened in 2021.
The Ferring Soundport at Kastrup, finished in 2022 to a
design by Foster + Partners of London, is the spectacular
new home of Ferring Pharmaceuticals A/S. Its coastal position by the Øresund crossing, just north of Copenhagen
International Airport, enables employees and visitors to
enjoy panoramic views towards Malmö and the Swedish
coast from a mostly glass-clad structure, triangular in plan,
which rises from a solid plinth, largely surrounded by sea
water. The six floors, containing offices and laboratories
with an atrium in the centre, cantilever outward to generate
shaded spaces on each floor.
