In 2012 DAMPA began a long-term collaboration with
TechoKlima, a specialist supplier of hydronic cooling and
radiation heating systems based in Ikast in central Jutland.
TechoKlima’s systems use cold or warm water flowing
through copper pipes attached above suspended ceiling
panels. Instead of cooling the air by exchanging vast
amounts of warm and cold air, as happens with traditional
air conditioning, this system offers a draught-free and much
more energy-efficient alternative.
Rather than warming the air within a building – as happens
with conventional convection heating – the system uses
water to produce heat radiation, which is activated on contact with people or surfaces, much as with the heat from the
sun, enabling energy savings of up to 25 per cent.

TechoKlima had been founded in 1996 as Techo by Poul
Andersen and Henning Christensen. In 2006, Andersen’s
brother, Per, acquired one-third ownership and was made
managing director, thereafter changing the name to
Te choK lima a nd introducing ‘Te choD e sign’ a nd
‘TechoSport’ brands for the company’s different radiation
heating products for offices and sports halls.
Per Andersen’s strategy was for TechoKlima to develop
from being a heating supplier into a supplier of integrated
ceiling climate systems and so when in 2012 Michael Nykjær
contacted him to suggest cooperating to produce ceilings
incorporating climate control, it was an ideal opportunity to
bring together DAMPA’s and TechoKlima’s obviously complementary specialisms.
