Back on track
Following the end of the pandemic, the cruise industry
rebounded strongly and new orders started to be placed,
some for vessels of unprecedented size. Among those built
by Meyer Werft in which DAMPA marine ceilings were
installed are the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure of Disney
Cruise Line, the Carnival Jubilee of Carnival Cruise Line, the
Silver Nova and Silver Ray of Silversea Cruises and the Asuka III of NYK Cruises, a Japanese cruise line.
A notable cruise ferry, the Viking Glory of Viking Line, which
was Chinese-built by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry, has
DAMPA ceilings printed with a triangular design. Printing
can produce every imaginable kind of design effect – for
example, Disney’s cruise ships have DAMPA ceilings that
are colourfully ornamented with cartoon characters and in
other instances a wide variety of thematic treatments have
been convincingly achieved.
As an alternative to the decorative ceilings, DAMPA panels
and tiles can also be supplied with Metalcolour’s DOBEL
foil, which is approved for marine applications, to achieve a
textured design surface.
