Meanwhile, DAMPA’s marine ceilings were installed in all of
the cruise ships built by Jos. L. Meyer in their Papenburg
shipyard and even in some constructed in Finland at their
Turku Perno yard. The Papenburg-built cruise ships included the AIDA Stella, AIDA Nova and AIDA Cosma for AIDA
Cruises, the Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Getaway,
Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Bliss and
Norwegian Encore for Norwegian Cruise Line, the Quantum
of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas, Spectrum of the Seas and Odyssey of the Seas for Royal Caribbean, the Genting Dream and World Dream for Genting
Cruises, the Spirit of Discovery and Spirit of Adventure for
Saga Cruises and the Iona and Arvia for P&O Cruises.
In recent decades, DAMPA has developed its marine ceiling
designs into integrated packages to increase the efficiency
of installation. According to Mogens Kjærgaard:
‘Back in the late 1990s, we began providing strips with holes
pre-cut to enable lights, fire detectors and loudspeakers to
be installed.
More recently, we have coordinated increasingly closely
with the suppliers of these items to provide complete logistics packages with all of the parts brought together in a single box and ready for installation. This adds value to the
supply chain and is very helpful both for shipyards and for
shipowners as ongoing maintenance is simplified when
everything is grouped in known arrangements.’
