Orders were won for DAMPA to supply large expanses of
ceiling for installation in a variety of prestigious buildings in
Copenhagen. These included a major extension to the Royal Library (Det Kongelige Bibliotek), designed by Schmidt
Hammer Lassen and widely known as ‘Den Sorte Diamant’
(the Black Diamond) on account of its skewed deconstructivist forms, clad in slabs of polished black granite.
Others were the Danish Design Centre (Dansk Design
Center) and a new headquarters for Unibank, both by Henning Larsen, Copenhagen Airport Terminal 3 by Vilhelm
Lauritzen Architects and Copenhagen Business School by
Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects and Eleven Danes A/S.
A major overseas commission was for ceilings in a large
extension to Singapore Changi Airport, which was being
transformed into a key hub for airlines in South East Asia.
At that time, just over 100 were employed in the Tommerup
factory.
