A new canteen was built with a marble floor, architect-designed furniture and a new type of ceiling named ‘DAMPA
Rondella’, which comprised semi-circular sections with integrated lighting. It was a more overtly design-conscious
alternative to the existing range and was intended to be
viewed as a series of objects inserted into a space, rather
than as a mere background plane. Yet, it was obviously also
a functional solution, rather than a gimmicky one, and, as
such, it was both successful in the market and capable of
withstanding the test of time. An early commercial application of DAMPA Rondella was in the offices in Horsens of
Jydsk Telefon (The Jutland Telephone Company).
