Towards the end of the 1970s, Dæmpa won a significant
order to supply ceilings for the underground stations of the
Essen Stadtbahn, which were inaugurated in 1979. These
had remarkable colour palettes and, to create focal points,
creatively used the standard DCC profiled strips sandwiched and mounted vertically as three-dimensional structures. This additional way of installing them to make
so-called ‘Dæmpa Baffles’ was subsequently widely marketed and applied during the first half of the 1980s.
