Dæmpa A/S
Such was the rate of growth that by mid-decade, even the
new factory was bursting at the seams and it was necessary
to rent additional spaces in Tommerup to store inventory
and completed products. It was therefore decided to buy
more land across the railway track on which to construct a
large factory extension. Planning began in 1966 with construction and equipping following in 1967-1968. When the
extension opened in October 1968, all production was
moved to the Tommerup sites and the older Sankt Klemens
factory was closed down. Shortly after, in January 1969,
Dæmpa for the first time was constituted as a separate corporate entity from Det Fyenske Trælastkompagni, although
the latter remained as the sole owner. The new Dæmpa A/S
continued to be led by Hans Muus – but as all profits from
the sale of Dæmpa products until that time had gone directly
to Det Fyenske Trælastkompagni, it suffered from a lack of
liquidity. Indeed, money had to be borrowed to pay for the
building and equipping of the factory extension. In the ensuing period, general price inflation caused materials costs to
increase, resulting in further financial stress.
