Factory Extension
Initial sales of Dæmpa aluminium panels were so satisfying
for Det Fyenske Trælastkompagni that it was decided in
1960 to purpose-build a new and efficiently-arranged factory and offices in Tommerup, adjacent to its existing converted premises there. As the site for the new factory was
unfortunately more water-logged than had been realised, it
became necessary first to drill piles for the concrete foundation. In the new facility, which was concrete framed and
brick-faced, all of the functions would take place on a single
level, meaning that production could be systematised. A
machine maintenance workshop and a central heating plant
were adjacent, meaning that factory and office work alike
henceforth would take place amid comfortable temperatures.
When the new factory was inaugurated in 1962, a production engineer, Svend Erik Brokhoff, was recruited to supersede Erik Bahnsen, and he oversaw a professional
transformation of Dæmpa’s whole approach.
By then, the company had issued licenses for the production of aluminium panels by other makers in various foreign
countries. The first such licensee was in Belgium and within
a short time, there were no fewer than ten licensed producers around the world, the furthest away being in Australia.
Their work was coordinated and controlled from the production office in Tommerup by the engineer Vilhelm
Schrøder.
